A unique place dedicated to one of Europe’s most important wetlands:
Grand-Lieu lake!
Sound and visual devices, manifesto film, models… The new scenography invites you to explore, manipulate and experiment! Strolling through this space will help you understand the Grand-Lieu Lake and, more broadly, the wetlands of Loire-Atlantique and the world.
Guided by an audio device, you stroll towards the Pavilion. Testimonies and anecdotes tell you stories of the landscapes you cross, echoing your feelings as you go. From listening to observation, you take your time, lulled by your emotions.
Time for poetry, imagination and awakening of the senses! From the wet meadows to the open waters of the lake, via the reed beds, you explore the lake and its different habitats. The visit ends on the balcony, a privileged viewpoint on the Grand-Lieu Lake, the birds of the reserve and their daily show. A guide accompanies you; binoculars are at your disposal: it is time to contemplate and be amazed!
This is THE new visit of La Maison du Lac de Grand-Lieu! Three stages of visit and a renewed scenography, to discover the Grand-Lieu Lake in a more exploratory, contemplative, and immersive way! A visit suitable for all audiences, starting from 8 years old.

At the reception centre, self-tour of the exhibition (40 min); self-tour along the path to the Pavilion, with audio device (45 min); guided tour at the Pavilion (1h); walk back along the path (20 min).
Leaflets of the exhibition and the audio device of the “audio walk” are available in English. Audio guides in English will soon be available for free at the reception.
Children under 8 years of age can take part in the visit but are not equipped with a sound system on the path.

This visit gives access to the 3 steps of La Maison du Lac de Grand-Lieu (Reception and exhibition, the audio walk, the Pavilion and its scenic view).
Shop, toilets, picnic area. For families: baby changing area, loan of bottle warmers, sale of children’s products (games, puzzles, books, etc.), children’s books for consultation.
Shorter than the “immersive visit”, the “discovery visit” allows you to discover the exhibitions and their renewed scenography, as well as the Pavilion and its view on the Grand-Lieu lake. It does not include the “audio walk”.

20 minutes from Nantes and 25 minutes from Pornic by car.
Regional train “TER”, line from Nantes to Pornic. Stop at Bouaye station, then 20 minutes by foot or 10 minutes by bike (accepted on TER).
Take the 88 TAN bus; stop at “Centre de Bouaye” then 15 min walk or 5 min bike ride (covered bike rack in front of La Maison du Lac de Grand-Lieu reception centre).
A 21km walk starting from Nantes centre. Of moderate level, it takes about 1h15. Between Nantes and Bouguenais, the route follows the “Vélodyssée – La Loire à Vélo”. A bike lane then provides a connection between Bouaye and La Maison du Lac de Grand-Lieu.
From Nantes, take the southern ring road towards Noirmoutier, exit at “Bouaye-Centre” then follow Saint-Mars-de-Coutais. A car and bus park are available at the entrance to the site.
